Marine Turtles of Belize:

There are three species of marine turtles commonly encountered in Belize’s water: hawksbill, loggerhead and green turtles. Belize’s water, including MPAs and World Heritage sites, are believed to be important regional foraging grounds for the three turtle species; varying sizes of these turtles have been observed through the year (Donnelly, 2017).

The following report was made possible by the generous contributions of many organizations: Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Gales Point Wildlife Sanctuary, Belize Fisheries Department, University of Belize Environmental Research Institute, Belize Audubon Society, Toledo Institute for Development and the Environment, Oceanic Society (all members of the Belize Sea Turtle Conservation Network) and WWF-Belize Programme Office.
